Dimapur, Jan 9 (MExN): Nagaland University’s Vice Chancellor Prof. K Kannen desires not to “be a party” to the recent charge of “insensitivity” and “total lack of concern” as alleged by the NUTA and PGSU over his handling the aftermath of the January 1 Goa tragedy. He feels wise not defending his position by stooping ‘low’ by commenting on the charges brought against him by the Nagaland University Teachers’ Association and Post Graduate Students Union of the university.
“I don’t wish to be a party to the charges. Everybody knows I have done my best. I don’t have to defend myself; the public can judge” Professor K Kannan said over phone. “I feel so hurt over the deaths. I feel very sad and I would only lower myself if I talk on this. It will not be appropriate to comment on this” he said expressing sympathy and respect for this time of loss.
NUTA and PGSU had yesterday issued a release highlighting various points of “insensitivity” against the VC and Registrar in handling the aftermath of the Goa tragedy where 3 SASARD students lost their lives to the waters of Colva beach, Goa on January 1.
