Dimapur, November 21 (MExN): After much hullabaloo over alleged mismanagement of the SSA fund in the state by the Education Department, the State Level Committee on SSA, constituted by the state government to look into the matter today, informed that the committee has not yet received any allegations, complaints or observation till date from any quarters.
The State Level Committee on SSA, in a press release issued through its chairman, S Among Ao, in this regard, again impressed upon any organization, community or individual to submit ‘allegations, complaints, should there be any, and also to submit observations on successful implementation or otherwise of the SSA Programme in the state,’ to the committee in person or by post or through respective deputy commissioners on or before November 30.
The implementation of the Center-sponsored Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme in the state ran into rough weather after allegations of financial mismanagement by state Education department officials surfaced from different quarters earlier this year. Concerned individuals, groups and organizations especially the NSF took out mass agitations demanding a thorough inquiry into the alleged scandal. One social worker from Mokokchung district, Chubatangit, even went to the extent of filing a case in the Guwahati High Court regarding the alleged scandal. Bowing to pressure, the state government constituted the State Level Committee on SSA recently to inquire into the allegations and complaints. The committee had on October 30, advertised a public notice inviting all concern to ‘submit the allegations’ and complaints.
