Dimapur, November 2 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today declared that no contract works without the recommendations of the NSCN (IM) will be allowed under any circumstances in the Naga areas in Manipur and warned of serious consequences to those who dare to deny the tribal people of their rightful place in the in the developmental works that falls in their area.
An NSCN (IM)/MIP press release received here, while giving reasons for their latest directive, said that the Organization have been constrained to issue the directive since the Manipur State Government in connivance with the valley-based underground groups are exploiting the tribal or hill people in the allotment of contract work related to any developmental programs sponsored by Central or State Government.
In this regard, the release warned the concern departments that ‘zero tolerance’ shall be exercised against anyone who dare to deny the tribal people their rightful place in the developmental works that falls in their areas. “No contract works sans recommendation from GPRN in the Naga Areas shall be allowed under any circumstances,” the release proclaimed and threatened that violation of the directive will invite serious consequences with dimensional effects.
Even the ongoing works in hill areas, if found without the recommendation of the NSCN (IM), will be treated as ‘deliberately by-passing the GPRN authourity, and therefore shall face action, the release warned.
The NSCN (IM) alleged of a nexus between the state government and the valley based underground organisation to exploit the hill people.
“Remember, Manipur Government does not exist for the people of the valley only and valley underground groups have no right to enter into complicity with different departmental heads in collusion with the concern ministers to exploit the hill people,” the release stated and at the same time questioned the revolutionary concept of integrity of the valley based underground groups when they ‘practice corruption and exploitation of highest order’. The NSCN (IM) pointed out that the Central Government has not poured in so much money just to fill up the coffers of the ministers and valley based underground groups, and therefore, the NSCN (IM) warned that ‘anyone found indulging in such mischief will only face penalty with irreparable lost’.
The release further added that bills drawn without any works done are being checked and that if found true, then such persons shall be treated as people’s enemy and will be debarred from any contract works in the hills.
