No forced-voting for Tesophenyu village

Dimapur, October 24 (MExN): In an uncommon but genuine assertion of democratic will and individual right, members of eleven clans of a village, Tesophenyu, have resolved to exercise own free-will vote franchise.

The Tesophenyu Group of 11 Clans met on October 20 in Tesophenyu village. The meeting was interrupted by frustrated vested interest groups, parties with ill-motive, informed a copy of the resolution appended by co-convener Asao Seb and advisor Wachulo Jemu.   However, like-minded members of eleven clans present at the meeting appended their signatures for the approval of three resolutions in the interest of the clans in concern.

The resolution stated that all eligible voters of  Tesophenyu Group  (Eleven) clans under Tesophenyu group i.e., Jemutsa, Makhaza, Chungshenyu, Wochanza, Tepenyu, Sebenyu, Tsela/Sonpvünyu, Mesungnyu, Kempvunyu, Kezonza and Semy shall exercise their franchise on his/her own will to elect his/her leader in the forthcoming State Election, scheduled to be held in 2008. And this is as guaranteed by the Indian constitution, it stated.

Political parties or groups attempting to force voters are given a clear warning: “Any political party/group trying to force any voters of the eleven clans shall suffer to the contrary.” The house also resolved that further meeting could be held any time at any place.
