
Dimapur, June 30 (DIPR): In accordance with the government’s directives, the Dimapur District Co-ordination Group has decided that no collection will be made at check gates and that there should be only one check post to be manned by Nagaland Police.
The Excise Commissioner, also a member of DDCG, said that Excise gates shall be closed down for six months and that checking of Excise-related “matters” shall be undertaken by Nagaland Police from the police check post. The DDCG members also decided that MVI check gates and the Veterinary department’s check gates shall be closed. However two officials from the MV department shall be deployed at the police gate basically for checking documents and issuing necessary receipts.
It was also decided that the DMC gate presently located in front of the police gate shall be shifted towards the Aluminum factory. There is a standing order from the police department that the police check post shall be at least 400 meters away from other check gates for security reasons and other such logistics.
It was also decided that outer security at the police check post would be provided by the Assam Rifles or CRPF as recommended by the Home Department.
Further, the DDCG members decided that Dimapur should have proper stocks in case of any eventuality like the recent strike called by Assam Trucks Union and should have enough storage of food sufficient for about one month to counter emergencies.
For this matter, the Deputy Chairperson of the Dimapur Municipal Council and the CEO of the DMC have been entrusted to take suitable measures. The DDCG members suggested that the railway authority in Dimapur and Maligaon should provide sufficient back up services in case of eventualities like the truckers’ strike, to transport stocks from Assam into neighboring state to Nagaland. The DDCG strongly appealed to Railway authorities in Dimapur and Maligaon to provide facilities to transport and stocks goods to Dimapur to meet emergencies.
