‘No need for total lockdown in Nagaland’

Nagaland’s Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department officials today said there is no need for a total lockdown as of now.


“Today when we are looking at our situation, all the cases are from Quarantine centres, returnees and there is no community spread till today in our State,” an official said addressing a press conference at its Directorate here on July 5. 


Replying the queries regarding non implementation of total lockdown in Nagaland despite the increase in positive cases, the officials did not rule out the same if the situation demands for it ‘in the future.’ 


Stating that the COVID-19 is here to stay and “we have to learn to live with it,” the official said, “For us right now, there is no need to go for total lockdown.”


"For our BSL 3 lab, there are no backlogs since the last three days. We have tested over 8000 samples. For BSL 2 lab also, there is no backlog, ” Dr Vizolie Z Suokhrie, Principal Director, H&FW informed on the status of testing capacity and issue of backlogs.


Nagaland has the maximum number of Truenat machines in the North East with a total of 29 Truenat machines in the State, he added.
