Everyone is aware that the Nagas have their own respective tribal land in Nagaland. There is no ownerless land nor landless Nagas and no inch of land belongs to Government in Nagaland. Though the land is belongs to Nagas the Nagas cannot be proud to have sufficient land of our generation to come. And for which, we cannot sold out the land forever and land ownership cannot be transferred to non-Nagas.
In this connection, according to Biblical from Leviticus 25:23 the Almighty God says the land is belongs to Me, you cannot sold the land forever. And also directed that do not remove the landmarks which were set by your forefathers. The Nagas are saying that every Naga members have a landed property in their own traditional villages. But we do not have any tribal common land in Nagaland.
The land which possess by the Nagas as their traditional land have its own distinct boundary under the controlled for utilization which is take care and look by the villages chiefs in every Naga respective villages since time immemorial.
The Government or the 60 elected MLAs in Nagaland should not try to hand over the land of Nagas to non-Nagas. Rather, they were elected to protect and preserve the people of Nagas and their tribal land. As because, the land of Nagas is guaranteed under the article 371 A of the Indian Constitution. And in case, if the State Government or the GOI or their agency required some land for any kind of development within the Sate, the handsome amount of land compensation must be paid to the landowner by the Center Government and not by the State. Otherwise it is meaningless for the GOI to bring the land of Nagas under Her constitution?
Besides, the landowners also must accept that what land rate the government is to offer. In the meantime, why the Non-Tenyimia’s demand higher rate of land in Dimapur District Hq. Chumukedima which is never traditionally belongs to them? Follows the procedure and live reasonably.
Respected Chief Secretary and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland are requested not to go against the landowners for any kind of development within the state without taking any concrete decision as acceptable with the landowners for development.
