DIMAPUR, AUGUST 30 (MExN): Goods suppliers to the Nagaland Police have brought the attention of the Director General of Police on failure to clear pending bills. A press release from the suppliers – under the banner of Nagaland Wet Rations Suppliers Union (NWRSU) – stated that the union is forced to completely stop supplies to the state police force beginning September.
Explaining the reason behind the decision, the union’s president Imto Imchen stated in the release that in the month of July the suppliers had submitted a representation to the DGP with regard to disbursement of bills long pending. The DGP in reply assured that the bills will be cleared “as and when budget allocation is given by the government.” Despite “budget allocation”, the DGP’s assurance is yet to be fulfilled, it stated. Ration bills are awaiting clearance since January of this year.
It further stated that eight months of going without payment has greatly affected the suppliers’ financial position, to the extent of their reputation getting damaged in the market. While expressing regret to the jawans of the state police for the inconvenience, the NWRSU said that they have no option but to stop supplies.
