The likelihood of establishing rail connectivity to Baghty Town in Wokha and Tizit in Longleng appears uncertain or improbable based on the responses provided by Minister-in-charge of Transport P Paiwang Konyak to two separate questions in the State Assembly on February 27.
In response to a starred question by Achumbemo Kikon regarding new railway line project between Furkating Railway Station (Assam) and Baghty Town, the Minister informed that a RET feasibility survey was sanctioned in 2011-12. The survey has been completed, and the report was sent on March 30, 2013, he added. However, there is not status updates thereafter. The project can only commence after the execution of the final location survey and the sanctioning of detailed project reports (DPR), he added.
Regarding the current status of the railway line between Dimapur and Tizit via Amguri, posed by A Nyamnyei Konyak, Paiwang stated that the Final Location Survey from Dimapur to Tizit new line is kept in abeyance as per an order (by Railway Board ) dated September 24, 2019.
Accordingly, he added that the commencement date can only be decided after the completion of the Final Location Survey (FLS) and the sanctioning of DPR.
