A press note appended by ZAPO General Secretary, Kewekope Marhu said that the School authorities and NGOs have made numerous attempts to enlighten this situation, public leaders had also made personal approaches, and even several representations and appeals were submitted, but till today, the department has paid no heed. The ZAPO and School authorities had appealed to the villages of the area to contribute from their respective village funds, to hire a private science teacher to cater to the need of the students. Until today, this private teacher is being paid salary from the villages’ funds.
“The question remains unanswered. The appeals and representations have fallen on deaf ears. Why is the education department, having being overloaded with teachers, not able to provide a Science teacher to a school that it recognized?” the Organisation questioned in the note.
ZAPO firmly believes that there is no dearth of science teachers and that it was mandatory and possible for the department to provide at least one teacher by now. Therefore, such indifferent temperament of the School Education Department of Nagaland has compelled the issue of this press release, the note further stated. The ZAPO keenly awaits for the appointment of the aforementioned subject teacher by the department at the earliest through re-deployment or appoint Kuwe Losou, who is presently teaching science at GHS Zuketsa so that, the burden of the villages in paying his salary is lifted.
