MON, JULY 4 (MExN): The Phomching Area Students' Union (PASU), an apex students organisation consisting of more than 12 villages, has expressed concern at the non-posting of an SDO (C), the post for which has been lying vacant for more than 2 and half years at Phomching Headquarter.
A press release from the union informed that it had sent a letter dated May 2 to the Commissioner, Nagaland sharing all the grievances being faced by the masses in the absence of the said officer. “But till now no positive response has been received,” it said.
The union accused the Nagaland State Government for the “adamant and lackadaisical attitude being shown towards them as the government had initiated transfer and posting of such officers on a number of occasions but failed to deploy the same at Phomching Headquarter, which was in fact intentional.”
“Phomching Headquarter being located at international border (lndo-Myanmar) and interstate border with Arunachal Pradesh, its strategic location cannot be simply ignored. Law and order situation may arise at any point of time.
Moreover, many high ranking officer(s)/ministers of central as well as state and many international as well as domestic tourists visit Longwa Village and International Trade Centre (ITC) frequently that falls under Phomching Headquarter,” the PASU informed.
It further informed that the public are facing “acute and untold hardship” in the absence of the concerned officer especially while carrying out office related work. The masses are bearing the brunt of all this mess which was not their fault actually, the union said. It stated that the public are now “just waiting and watching patiently despite their suffering, expecting with high hope that the government would fulfill their aspirations.”
The PASU appealed to the government to immediately intervene and initiate measure to deploy/post a full time SDO (C) at Phomching Headquarter at the earliest. It cautioned that in case the government fails to do so, “the government would be solely responsible for any untoward incident.”
