No tax at Tuli paper mill: Kitovi

‘Killing among Naga brothers must stop’

Dimapur, July 12 (MExN): In a welcome development, the Ato Kilonser of the GPRN/NSCN N. Kitovi Zhimomi has assured that no taxation shall be levied at Tuli paper mill “because it represents the economic refuge for thousands of Naga youths”. Kitovi’s comment comes in the backdrop of reports pointing to huge ‘tax demands’ made by various groups following the Central government’s plan to revive the paper mill at a huge cost involving crores of rupees. According to a press note from the Publicity Cell, the Ato Kilonser in his interactions had made a fervent appeal to all sections of Naga society to give greater priority to younger Naga generations while lamenting that the socio-economic prospect of the future Nagas looks bleak with threats, intimidations, kidnapping, extortion etc. While calling for a “common approach” to tackle anti-social activities” the Ato Kilonser took the line that “industries and manufacturing units in Nagaland must be allowed to flourish”. For example the attempt to revive Tuli paper mill in Ao region must be fully supported and co-operated. To this Ato Kilonser assured that no taxation shall be levied at Tuli paper mill. “Nagas must now learn to sow economic seeds for the future while fervently pursuing our political right”, stated the Ato Kilonser while expressing his appreciation for all valuable suggestions and opinions from the Nagas.

The Ato Kilonser of the GPRN/NSCN also made clear his view that the Naga political struggle, at this juncture, needs unity of the Nagas first. According to the press note issued by the Publicity Cell, Kitovi’s view was that “political solution lies within the ambit of whether or not Nagas can reconcile amongst themselves”. The press note informed that ever since his arrival at the 2nd Brigade Headquarters, Naga Army a fortnight ago, the GPRN/NSCN Ato Kilonser has had meaningful interaction with various Hoho/Union leaders based in Dimapur.

“He has undertaken the present interaction with the Nagas because he believes Nagas can. A solution to any problem, most importantly that of political solution, beckons only when a people agree to bury the differences for a greater glory of the future. Killing amongst Naga brothers must stop”, stated the press note. It was also informed that the Ato Kilonser had come with a clear conscience and a great hope that Naga people would realize the difference between illusion and reality. “He has so far had free and frank discussion with individuals and groups with great emphasis on the future rather than dwelling on the sordid tale of the past”.
