NOA to conduct Nagaland Mini Olympic by 2021: CM

TVYSO golden jubilee sports meet underway

Nagaland’s chief minister Neiphiu Rio today said the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) will be holding Nagaland Mini Olympic by the latter part of 2021.

Rio said this while gracing the inaugural programme of the golden jubilee celebration of Teichüma Village Youth & Sports Organization (TVYSO) in Teichüma village under Kohima district.

Rio, who is also the president of NOA, said that before the start of Mini Olympic, series of sports activities will be conducted in the villages, schools and across the districts and the players will be selected from such platforms for the main Nagaland Mini Olympic event.

In this, he called upon the sports persons to give due attention and participate actively.

Rio maintained that there is no dearth of talent among the Naga youth and they can compete with others provided they are serious and dedicated.

He, however, reminded them that “Good is not good enough” and encouraged them to focus on the factor of “best of the best.”

During 2021, a Country Marathon race of national and international level will be conducted by NOA in the state, he said.
Participants from various parts of the countries are expected to join.

Meanwhile, Rio was appreciative of Teichüma village for making a good headway in the field of games and sports and has produced many national players.

Rio extended best wishes to TVYSO for attaining 50 glorious years and at the same time encouraged them to give extra effort to grow further.

Earlier, Thepfurüya Mere Kesiyie, president NDPP Teichüma unit also spoke at the inaugural function while TVYSO president Kedichatuo Sogotsu delivered presidential address.

The function was chaired by organizing committee convenor Er. Lhoubeizo Mere Kesiyie while welcome address was delivered by Teichüma Village Council chairman Lhousakuolie Metha.

TVYSO team captain Pezavituo Mere Kesiyie administered oath to the participating teams.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Teichüma village GB Thehieu Sogotsu.

The meet will go on till December 31 with Kevise Sugotsu, president Nagaland Timber Association as the guest of honour.
