Mon, October 24 (MExN): The 17th edition of the Noke Trophy, scheduled to take place on November 1, has been cancelled due to the upcoming by-election in the 43 Tapi Assembly Constituency and the Konyak Students' Union Platinum Jubilee, informed the organising committee in a statement today.
While regretting the announcement of the cancellation, the organiser explained that the forthcoming by-election and jubilee hold paramount importance for the community.
To ensure the full participation of the community, the organising committee has decided to prioritise the democratic process and the grand success of the Jubilee, it said.
The organising committee also acknowledged that the decision to cancel the trophy was not made lightly and recognises the disappointment this may cause to the athletes, sponsors, and fans who have eagerly awaited the event.
However, it is essential to provide an environment where everyone can exercise their right to vote and engage in the democratic process without distractions, it added.
The new date for the Noke Trophy will be announced in due course, once the election is concluded, according to the committee.
The organising committee remains committed to delivering an exceptional event that showcases the talent, dedication, and passion of the athletes, it added.
