The District Level Core Committee meeting for the nationwide Sardar@150 Padyatra was convened at the Deputy Commissioner’s Chamber in Noklak, in coordination with the District Administration and MeraYuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Tuensang on Tuesday.

The meeting, chaired by district officials and representatives from MY Bharat, deliberated on the preparations and finalized the program details for the Padyatra (Unity March), scheduled to take place on November 12, at 9:00 a.m. The march will commence from Police Point and conclude at the DC Office Ground, symbolizing unity and collective spirit in honour of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary.

As part of the lead-up to the event, the committee announced a series of pre-event activities designed to engage youth and educational institutions across the district. These activities include essay and debate competitions, poster-making contests, talks and lectures on the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and cleanliness drives in schools and public spaces.

Born on October 31, 1875, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, often revered as the Iron Man of India, was a stalwart of India’s freedom movement and played a pivotal role in uniting the nation. His most enduring legacy, the integration of over 560 princely states into the Indian Union—cemented his place as the “Unifier of India.”

The year 2025 marks his 150thbirth anniversary, a landmark occasion celebrated nationwide under the banner Sardar@150, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The campaign seeks to rekindle awareness of Patel’s vision of unity, integrity, and selfless nation-building among the youth of India.

In Noklak, officials said the Padyatra will serve not only as a tribute to Sardar Patel but also as an opportunity to promote civic participation, harmony, and patriotism within the community. The district administration has urged all departments, institutions, and youth organizations to actively participate in the event.
