Noklak team accorded warm reception

NOKLAK, SEPTEMBER 5 (MExN): A reception programme was held for the Noklak district team that participated in the recent 2nd edition of the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022. The team consisted of a contingent of 93 participants for 6 out of the 11 events.

The Noklak District Team was led by Er Jonthong Khiamniungan as the Chef de Mission; Thangpong Khiamniungan as Deputy Chef de Mission; and Longshen Sheu as the District Team Manager. The team finished the games in 4th position with a total of 18 medals (8 Golds, 6 Silvers and 4 Bronzes). The youngest participant was 11 years old Khunyu L from Noklak Village who represented the district in the archery team.

The reception programme was accorded by the apex tribal bodies led by Noklak District Administration headed by DC Noklak, Hiazu Meru, who is also the Chairman of Noklak District Sports Council. The reception was held at the DC conference hall, Noklak Hq on September 1.

Prior to this, the felicitation and valedictory programme was also held at Kohima, Conference Hall, DUDA Guest House organised by the Khiamniungan Sports Council, where Advisor H Haiyang graced the function.
