NOKSEN, June 7 (MExN): The Noksen Students’ Union (NSU) undertook an education tour to its native village as part of a 2025 initiative aimed at reconnecting with the community and addressing key issues affecting students in the region.
The tour included visits to local schools, a community dormitory (Sochum), and a parent-student interaction session. According to a release from the NSU, the tour served both as a fact-finding mission and a platform for engagement between students, parents, and educators.
On June 1, the Union held a meeting with parents of students studying in both government and private institutions to discuss academic concerns, migration trends, and the role of families in fostering student success. Union leaders highlighted the importance of skill development and urged parents to actively support their children's education despite ongoing challenges.
On June 2, the Union visited various government schools, where officials interacted with students and faculty on topics such as education, personal growth, and career planning.
The Union noted several pressing issues during these visits, including severe teacher shortages—especially in specialized subjects—poor infrastructure, a lack of parental involvement, and unsafe school buildings in danger of collapse.
The tour also included a visit to the local Sochum, or rural dormitory, where the Union assessed the living conditions of students residing away from home. The NSU said the visit revealed an urgent need to improve facilities to ensure both the well-being and academic success of these students.
The Union reaffirmed its commitment to work collaboratively with parents, educators, and community stakeholders to tackle systemic barriers and improve educational outcomes in the region.
Calling the education tour a "commendable initiative," the NSU stated that building a stronger support system for rural students would ultimately contribute to the social and developmental progress of the Noksen area.
