5th Semester students presents a song during the 4th Annual Winter Fest held at the college premises in Chumoukedima on December 6.
Chumoukedima, December 7 (MExN): The Norman Putsure College celebrated its 4th Annual Winter Fest on December 6 at the college premises in Chumoukedima. The event was organised under the theme “Santa’s Village Carnival” and was graced by Rev Dirang Lungalang as the special guest.
The celebration began with a melodious Christmas Carol presented by the EU members of the College. The programme consisted of two sessions, with the formal session hosted by Lemnyuthaila and Velhukho. The session opened with an invocation by Suikachangbe Newme, followed by a welcome address delivered by Lorence, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology.
The 5th Semester students captivated the audience performing their rendition of the Christmas classic “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” followed by sharing by Neinunthem, who expressed that Christmas is a time to be with our loved ones and to remember the presence of God in our lives.
The highlight of the evening was the lighting of the Christmas tree, performed by the special guest, accompanied by Er Fury Putsure. In his address, Rev Dirang Lungalang reflected on how Christmas is a season to retrospect on the love of God, symbolised through gifts, decorations and songs of praise.
The audience was further treated to a special music performance by Tenou Therie, followed by an engaging skit presented by the students. A Cosplay competition was also held, where the 1st Prize was bagged by Lakham from Sociology Department and 2nd by Henman from History department.The formal session concluded with a vote of thanks by Wezhie, President, Students’ Council, and a Benediction pronounced by Ruvezo, President, EU.
The second session featured vibrant live music with a special appearance by renowned local artist Shau Evans. He thrilled the crowd with his popular original compositions and cover songs, concluding his performance with the accompaniment of Sentiein Kichu. Students of the College also showcased their talent through various musical and stage performances, adding energy and colour to the evening.
In addition to the stage events, the celebration included food stalls and game stalls set up by different departments. Each department participated with creativity and competitive spirit, presenting unique ideas to attract and entertain visitors. The best stall was awarded to the Department of English for its outstanding creativity and presentation.
