North East India’s first Startup Incubation Programme for PwDs launched

 Dimapur, December 12 (MExN): North East India’s first Startup Incubation Programme for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) was launched on December 12 by YouthNet in collaboration with Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, and Startup Nagaland, Department of Industries and Commerce.

Located at the YouthNet Dimapur Office as part of YouthNet Incubation Centre programme, a co-working space has been dedicated for PwDs who are entrepreneurs. YouthNet Incubation Centre provides access to infrastructure, networking, financing and related business services for the entrepreneurs, according to a press release.

 As per the release, Nuneseno Chase, Director of YouthNet, highlighted the importance of inclusiveness for all kind of entrepreneurs and hoped that the initiative would be an effective way to share the necessary platform, thereby giving PwDs a fair chance to learn and develop the skills they need.

Lhoushevikho Lhoushe, Inspector of Industries, Startup Nagaland, Department of Industries & Commerce also gave an overview of the key factors of the Startup Nagaland Policy 2019 and the department’s initiatives for the entrepreneur’s benefit. He also ‘hinted to consider in designing and amending the policies for the benefit of the Persons with Disabilities,’ the release stated.

Similarly, Ashe H Kiba, Programme Coordinator from the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities highlighted on the inclusive programmes that allow entrepreneurs of all backgrounds to learn and grow side by side.

State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Diethono Nakhro, through a virtual message, thanked YouthNet for the opportunities and also noted the government’s efforts to foster and monitor inclusive systems for all categories at all levels, including advocacy, awareness creation, and implementation support.
