Sovima, July 22 (MExN): The North East NSS Youth Festival 2024, a five-day programme fostering unity and cultural exchange among the eight North-Eastern States of India, is underway from July 22 to 26 hosted by Tetso College, Nagaland. The event saw the participation of 300 NSS volunteers. 

Kethosituo Sekhose, Director, Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, was the special guest for the inaugural event.

The inaugural session was chaired by Senjumbeni K Jami, NSS PO of Tetso College, which commenced with the volunteers singing the NSS song. This was followed by a word of prayer offered by Daniel M Khan, Head of the Department of Political Science, Tetso College.

Talinungsang, Assistant Dean, School of Computer Science, IT & NEILIT, delivered the welcome address.

Jangjilong, Regional Director, NE NSS Region, delivered the introductory note on the NE NSS Youth Festival. He underscored the theme of the festival, "Youth for my Bharat," emphasizing the richness of India’s vibrant culture and heritage, and the diversity that every youth should be proud of. Additionally, he discussed the impact and objectives of "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav," highlighting its goals and perspectives, and how youth can contribute to nation-building through innovative projects. 

Kethosituo Sekhose, the special guest, encouraged the youth to build and polish their skills in all spheres of life to become self-sufficient and contribute back to society. He stressed on the importance of leadership development in contributing to nation-building.

The five-day festivities will continue till July 26, featuring cultural evenings, technical sessions, sightseeing, and an extravaganza night, among other activities.
