Pele Khezhie felicitates Manipur Chief Minister Yumnan Khemchand Singh in Imphal on February 15
Kohima, February 16 (MExN): The North East Taekwondo Union (NETU) felicitated Yumnan Khemchand Singh on his assumption of office as the Chief Minister of Manipur.
NETU President, Pele Khezhie felicitated him during a programme held in Imphal on Sunday, describing his elevation as a moment of pride for the sporting fraternity across the Northeast.
Congratulating the Chief Minister, Khezhie said Master Khemchand Singh’s journey from a martial artist to the highest political office in the state reflected the transformative power of sports and discipline.
“As President of the North East Taekwondo Union, it is both an honour and a moment of immense pride to congratulate you on assuming office as the Chief Minister of Manipur,” Khezhie said in his address.
He noted that Khemchand Singh was not merely a political leader but a “warrior shaped by discipline, resilience, and honour,” adding that the values cultivated through taekwondo—focus, courage, humility, and self-control—were essential qualities of effective leadership.
Khezhie said the Chief Minister’s rise sends a strong message to young sportspersons across the Northeast and India that character built through sports can shape destinies and leadership.
“You embody the truth that a true sportsman does not just strive for victory; he uplifts communities, inspires youth, and leads with integrity,” he stated.
The NETU President further expressed confidence that under Khemchand Singh’s leadership, sports would receive greater emphasis as a tool for youth empowerment, social unity, and development in the state.
“We are proud that one of our own now leads Manipur. The sporting fraternity stands firmly with you, confident that under your leadership, sports will not only grow but become a pillar of youth empowerment and unity,” he added.
