
Maligaon, January 27 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) celebrated the 76th Republic Day. The central programme was held at the NFRSA complex at Maligaon, where S Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NF Railway unfurled the National Flag. He inspected march-past by contingents of RPF, NFRSA, Civil Defence, and Bharat Scouts & Guides.
The Republic Day was also celebrated in all the five Divisions of NF Railway viz Tinsukia, Lumding, Rangiya, Alipurduar and Katihar, where the Divisional Railway Managers unfurled the National Flag in presence of Divisional railway officials.
NFR Construction Organisation also celebrated the 76th Republic Day. Arun Kr Chaudhary, General Manager, NFR (Construction) unfurled the National Flag at the programme held at the GM/NFR (Construction) office.
NFR also celebrated the 75-year anniversary of the Assam Rail Link.
The GM mentioned that NFR has also signed a MoU with IIT Guwahati for collaboration in developing innovative AI based solutions to enhance safety, efficiency and sustainability in rail infrastructure. NFR is focusing in a big way on staff training using state of the art technologies. VR and AR based training is being provided at MZTI, Alipurduar. The Specialized S&T training centre at Pandu has recently been upgraded with digital classroom and full scale models. GYAANVAPI App for counselling of CLI and running staff has also been launched.
In his speech, he mentioned about the Doubling project which has been completed in the entire route from New Bongaigaon to Agthori via Rangiya and New Bongaigaon-Azara via Goalpara. Paving the way for Railways in Mizoram, the newly laid BG line between Bhairabi and Hortoki has also been commissioned. 244.86 route kms of Railway Electrification have been completed upto December, bringing the total electrified length to 2828 RKM. He also informed that total 8 nos of Mechanized laundries are now functional in NFR, including the state of the art 16 tonne capacity BOOT laundry at New Guwahati.
For improvement of safety & operational efficiency, the GM further mentioned that in last nine months, 6 new train pairs were introduced, 110 special trains operated, and 284 coaches added to 85 rakes. Automatic Fire Detection & Alarm System has been commissioned at 29 stations and fire prevention system has been provided in 1191 LHB AC coaches, 135 power cars and 75 pantry cars. He further added that 141 km block section under NFR has been covered under Intrusion Detection System.
He also specially mentioned about NFR continuously upgrading sports infrastructure. NFRSA is running 9 academies with coaching by National and International level players. NFRSA cricket stadium is being upgraded to BCCI standards. He also congratulated the sports persons of NFR who performed well at the National/International level.
On the occasion, the GM inaugurated the renovated Dormitory hostel for post graduate doctors and Renovated Cabins for patients at the Central Hospital, Maligaon. He also inaugurated a Children Parkat New West Nambari, Maligaon.
