Northern Sumi Hoho calls for review of Champang circle

Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): The Northern Sumi Hoho, representing 18 villages under Bhandari 32 A/c, registers strong objection to the proposed working paper on delimitation, particularly for the adverse overbearing it had over the Sumi community under Champang circle, Wokha.

A note from the Hoho stated that the impact overrides the existing arrangement of the Assembly Constituency which is based primarily on the proximity of the area and that the delimitation ignores the accessibility of road transportation connectivity geographically. It also mentioned that the inclusion of Northern Sumi area under Champang circle in 31 Sungro A/C as per the proposed paper, is “without the mandate of NGOs or any political parties in the area which is but a direct contravention of the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India, New Delhi.”

The Hoho has called for review of the adjustment or “we may be allowed to opt for any ways and means that will enable to prevent any passive and unwarranted imposition on us that may be detrimental to our interest for progress.”
