NOSTC holds annual general meeting 2025 in Dimapur

NOSTC members during the annual general body meeting 2025 held at Livingstone Foundation International, Dimapur on June 10 and 11.

Dimapur, June 11 (MExN): The annual general body meeting 2025 of the Network of Organizations for Science and Technology Communication (NOSTC), formerly known as NCSTC NETWORK, was held on June 10 and 11 at Livingstone Foundation International, Dimapur in collaboration with Livingstone Foundation Society and Breeze Women Welfare Association. 

A press release received here stated that the meeting was attended by over 20 NOSTC members from various organizations across India representing different states and union territories. 

The meeting was led by Chairman, NOSTC, Er Anuj Sinha, Scientist-G, Head & Advisor (Retd), NCSTC-Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and General Secretary & Convenor, NOSTC, Sanjib Kumar Sinha. During the Executive Body election was conducted wherein it was unanimously decided that Er Anuj Sinha and Sanjib Kumar Sinha will continue as the Chairman and General Secretary & Convenor for tenure of 2025-29. 

The other executive members included Kishor Raje, Treasurer, Sandhya Verma, Joint Secretary & Co-Convenor and In-charge of Central India, Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema, In-charge of North East India, Girish Kadlewad, In-charge of South India, Dr Satender Singh, In-charge of Central India, Shri Deepak Sharma, In-charge of North India, Abhijeet Vardhan, In-charge of East India, Kishor Dev, In-charge of East India, L Nabakumar, and Santu Thapa. Besides these, two co-opted members were also inducted who were MN Singh, I-charge of North India and Dr NK Tiwari, In-charge of Central India.

Later, first Governing Body meeting of the new executive members was held where several agendas for the new term were discussed including a proposal to organise National Teachers’ Science Conference and National Children’s Science Conference, conducting International Science events where foreign students would be invited to participate and to bring about drastic changes in the dissemination of science and technology programmes among the masses across the whole of India especially among the students.

In the welcome address, Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema called upon the members to be united in their efforts and to consider NOSTC as a big family whereby they can contribute towards the growth and development of science and technology in the country as an exclusive organization. He highlighted the importance of quality education. The officials and members of NOSTC were felicitated by Ani Yepthomi.

It may be mentioned that NOSTC was formed about 26 years back with the objectives of initiating and implementing coordinated programmes of science outreach in association with government and non-government organizations. National Council of Science and Technology Communication, Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi catalyzed the formation of this organization. It is a registered body guided by a Board of Governors with headquarters at Delhi. 

The organization has over the last three decades pushed the mission of science popularization. Over hundred active organizations are members of this Network. Volunteers in districts lend it great strength and capability for implementing projects that reach the common masses. Over the decades, NOSTC has played a pivotal role in shaping and advancing science and technology communication, making it more engaging and enriching for all participants. It provides platform for interacting with eminent scientists and encourages young budding scientists also.
