Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): The Sumi Hoho today stated that it was not “favoring” or ‘discriminating’ any Naga “political” groups or tribes in the “principled history of the Naga unity, reconciliation and peace process.”
“Basing on this principled history of the Naga unity, reconciliation and peace process, the Sumi Hoho has (been) working with Naga Hoho, ENPO, tribal hohos, GB & DBs’ Forum, FNR and other mass base civil societies towards the realization of the common goal without discriminating or favoring any particular Naga political groups or tribes,” the Sumi Hoho said in a note today. According to the note, the Sumi Hoho’s stance, “like any other Naga tribal hohos and mass base Naga civil societies,” in the Naga unity, reconciliation and peace process, has been “very consistent.”
The hoho stated in a one elaborate sentence: “Accordingly, during the presidentship of Mr. M Vero, the then first president of Naga Hoho, the Konyak Union, the Tangkhul Naga Long and the Sumi Hoho were entrusted to spearhead the process of unity, reconciliation and peace among the warring Naga underground factions as well as amongst the Naga family as a whole on the basic principle of ‘broad base unification’, irrespective of territorial demarcation and artificial boundaries so as to stop all kinds of hostilities, fratricidal killings, extortions, intimidations, kidnappings and to bring about the lasting solution to the vexed Indo-Naga political problem.”
The Sumi Hoho has appealed to the Naga people and all mass-based civil organizations, Forum for Naga reconciliation, hohos and Naga underground groups to “rededicate their commitment” in realizing “our common hope.”
