Noted Naga poet Nini Lungalung passes away

Kohima, October 4 (MExN): Noted Naga poet Vingurieü L. Poovathinkal, prominently known as Nini Lungalung passed away on October 4, 2019 at her home in Kohima. Lungalung was 71 and had undergone a hernia operation on October 1. Well known as a solitary poet and Piano teacher, Nini was serving as the Vice Principal of Northfield School, Kikha, Kohima.
According to family source, Nini was the first Naga to get Liscentiate Liscentiate from Trinity College, London in piano forte. She did her school education from Loreto Convent and graduated from St Edmund, Shillong. Late Nini was a lecturer when Kohima Arts College first started and later she taught English in Baptist College.
Her collection of poems 'The Morning Years' was published in 1994. Nini Lungalung is survived by her daughter.
