Nov 8: More parties to join protest against demonetization in Manipur

Newmai News Network Imphal | November 4 All the other Opposition parties in Manipur will join the Left parties to protest against the November 8, 2016, demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes then in circulation. With this development, the total number of political parties to protest in Imphal on November 8 has risen to 10. The political parties are INC, CPI, CPI-M, NCP, AITC, AAP, RSP, AIFB, JDS and BSP.   On the day, the 10 political parties will organize a joint mass rally in Imphal while observing the day as ‘Black Day’. In this regard, the 10 political parties have come together and formed a ‘Black Day Observation Committee’.   According to the leaders of the Black Day Observation Committee, the demonetization of high value currency notes by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year has given way to hardship in the entire country. Though the NDA Government has been saying that the move was to check the issue of black money, this issue remains unaddressed to date. Leaders of the 10 political parties also said that demonetization has sparked acute inflation in the country.   Meanwhile, as part of the Black Day observation on November 8, a public meeting will be held at Shumang Leela Sanglen in Imphal after the mass rally in different areas. They will come with placards with messages on the ill effects of demonetization.   In the public meeting, many resource persons will speak on the ill effects of demonetization, stated the leaders of the 10 political parties.
