Now, Civil Hospital better equipped

Dimapur, May 30 (MExN): Civil Hospital Dimapur is now equipped with a clinical Bio-chemistry laboratory which will help in the diagnosis and treatment of  various diseases like diabetes and other kidney and liver diseases. In a modest program conducted at the hospital premises Hokishe Sema, Chairman of the DAN Government cut the ribbon while Rev. Yanpang, Pastor Nagarjan Baptist Church offered the dedication prayer. 

According to Dr Toska, the doctor in-charge of the laboratory and reportedly the only Bio-Chemistry Specialist in Dimapur, “ The laboratory will analyze all the chemical constituents of the body like fluids, blood and urine to help ascertain the cause of diseases, diagnosis, monitor the progress of patients and asses their response to therapy.” Dr. Kezo, from the Medical OPD agreed, “This is going to help us a lot.” It should bring greater accuracy in the diagnosis through its scientific techniques and will negate the need to have costly tests conducted in laboratories outside the state claimed other doctors. Patients were sometimes had conduct tests in Guwahti. Dr. Toska further added that the laboratory will be able to conduct approximately 2700 tests per day which should be sufficient for the 160 bed Civil Hospital Dimapur.

In the dedication programme Dr Sukhato, Medical Superintendent of the hospital put the cost of the Laboratory at approximately 3 lakhs of which 2.5 lakhs was sanctioned through the Dimapur District Planning Board and the remaining amount from the Hospital. Hokishe Sema told the attendees the Government will provide the instruments but the proper use of them depends on the sincerity of doctors.

Putting in a word of encouragement and caution K N Ngullie, DC Dimapur praised the services rendered by the doctors and asked them to be sincere to their profession. An installation program for Mar Pongen, Chaplain, Civil Hospital Dimapur followed the dedication.
