Dimapur, November 5 (MExN): Cadres from the NSCN-K and FGN (non-accordist) are said to have severely assaulted three school boys of Losami Government High School on the 31st of October. The assault took place at around 4:00 am in Losami where one Kewewu (class-IX), Pewekho (Class-VI), Wesheko Mekrisuh (Class-IX) were severely beaten, a joint statement from the Losami students’ Union and Losami Youth Society.
The school boys had gone out collecting snares along NEC road. They were also carrying books for their final examinations, the two organizations informed. Kewew Pewekho was severely beaten but Wesheko somehow managed to “run to avert the black and blue.” Condemning the atrocity of the NSCN-K/FGN meted out to the school boys, the two organizations through their presidents Kozote Akami, LSU, and Zechete Mekrisuh, LYS, “asked with toleration” why innocent students were tortured. The two bodies also mentioned that NSCN-IM cadres were camped in Losami area and to avert confrontation, the public had asked them to leave. However, the undergrounds did not, “for its territorial supremacy.”
Reminding the underground factions of the permanent traumatic scars the school boys will have to carry, LSU and LYS lamented that the factions were acting contradictory to their claims of maintaining ceasefire.
ConThe factions must win the people’s mandate, it stated. Besides, it is most unwise for any faction to disturb peace when the younger lot is busy preparing for their examinations and farmers too, most anxious for harvest.
The LS and LYS also, on behalf of the Losami people, expressed gratitude to the 17 Assam rifles led by its commandant D-coy, Chizami, for attending to the young victims and providing the necessary medical help. “Their noble stewardship we remain in our heart forever” it added.
