KOHIMA, January 4 (MExN): Observing that retired senior citizens especially in the age group of 80-85, who come for verification every year have no proper place to sit and wait, the Nagaland Pensioners’ Association (NPA) are in the process of constructing a three-storey building that will include a waiting room for the elderly, a central office of the NPA and a district office respectively.
The foundation for the NPA building was laid during the holiday season in late December for the convenience of the public as the construction is being undertaken in the Deputy Commissioner’s complex, Kohima and is expected to be completed within 5-6 months.
In this regard, the NPA Building Committee comprising of Convener, Sachopra Vero (Former DC), Architect Medozho Zango, NPA President, Rukhielhoulie Angami, NPA General Secretary, Lecho Krocha, NPA Finance Secretary, K. Seijahen, Executive Member, Yantso Khuvung and Committee member, S. Keppen also held a review meeting today. The Committee is further seeking the full cooperation of the district and sub-division units across the state for the completion of the building. They also stated hope that the units would come forward and help the NPA towards this end.
Mention may be made here that the NPA has 11 district offices, 4 sub-division units and 4 other units outside the state including one in Kerala, Assam, West Bengal and Manipur.
