
Dimapur, February 5: The Nagaland Police Baptist Churches Association celebrated silver jubilee (1989-2014) from February 3 to 5, with the theme ‘Jesus, The hope of ages’ at NPBCA Mission Compound Chumukedima.
During these three days of silver jubilee programme, the resource persons were Rev Dr Anjo Keikung, general secretary NBCC; Rev Dr AK Lama, General Secretary, CBCNEI; Rev Bonny Resu, general secretary APBF; and Rev Dr Wati Aier, Principal OTS Bade.
The jubilee choirs were from Police Baptist Church Chumukedima; Police Baptist Church Dimapur; and police Baptist Church, 15th NAP (IR) Mahila. Besides the theme, the speakers spoke on others topics including ‘celebrating the mighty works of God’, ‘victory in Jesus’, ‘marching towards the goal in Jesus’ and ‘perfect liberation in Jesus.’ Other highlights of the event were departmental spotlight every evening after the service and business session during the programme.
According to the preface given by NPBCA Secretary Rev Dr N Mong Lotha in the book ‘NPBCA History and Album’ published by the Association, Nagaland Police Baptist Churches Association was established in the year 1989 on February 5 and officially affiliated to NBCC as a full-fledged Association at Police Baptist Church, Mokokchung. “Today, NPBCA has become a big family with 29 constituent churches and 13,850 baptized members approximately. All along the past 25 years, God has been faithful upon NPBCA and its churches,” states the Reverend in the book. He also added, “NPBCA is doing a good ministry amongst Naga people where all should appreciate and extend utmost support to it. It is a conglomeration of people irrespective of denominations, languages and ranks where all believers can come together and worship the living Lord Jesus Christ, practice their faith and find the way to heaven.”
The Association upholds its vision “to win souls of all Nagaland police personnel and their families to the Lord Jesus Christ.”
The first Nagaland Police Church was established in 1964 in Chumukedima. Today, with the frequent deployment of police personnel to the states like Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi etc for law and order duties, evangelistic opportunities as well as church activities have been widened and ministries extended even into the mainland India.
NPBCA covers the entire districts of Nagaland state with strength of approximately 28,000 uniform personnel from 15 NAP Battalions and 11 DEF units, prisons, civil defense & home guards, emergency & fire service, wireless.
