NPBCA hold 7th triennial convention and 30th general annual council

Dimapur, January 14 (MExN): Nagaland Police Baptist Churches Association (NPBCA) held its 7th triennial convention and 30th general annual council programme at Police Baptist Church Chümoukedima under the theme ‘Knitted Together in Christ’ from January 11 to 13.


The Convention was conducted under the leadership of the NPBCA Office Bearers, A. Temsu – President, V. Rhakho - Vice President, Tsisepi Sangtam – Recording Secretary and Neibu Sanchu – Assistant Recording Secretary.
The speakers for the programme were L. Mhonthung Humtsoe, Associate Professor, Discipleship Bible College; Rev. Dr. Imchayanger, Senior Pastor, Ao Christian Revival Church Dimapur and A. Temsu, President NPBCA.
A total of 255 delegates from 28 associate churches besides the members of the host Church attended the three-day programme.


The first night witnessed a grand opening of the Triennial Convention & Annual General Council by Rev. Dr. Hukashe A. Zhimomi, Executive Secretary, NPBCA with much fanfare. Rev. Manen, Pastor PBC Chumukedima welcomed all the delegates and encouraged them to have a blessed stay. A. Temsu, President NPBCA brought the message on the opening night on the topic, “Knitted Together in Christ” emphasizing on the need for everyone to work together for progression the Church and for the glory of God.


The second day witnessed the presentation of reports by the Association HODs and all the associate churches. The 2018 Audit Report was also tabled and evaluated and accepted by the House by voice vote.


The afternoon session saw the delegates divided into three focus groups. For the ‘Mission Group’, Verüyoi Khesoh, Pastor PBC Phek was the Moderator and Toshi, Pastor PBC 10thNAP (IR) Zhadima was the resource person. For the ‘Youth Group’, Changsangsomba, Youth Director PBC Tuensang was the Moderator and Chenirao, Pastor UBC Dhansaripar was the resource person. For the ‘Women Group’, Arenla Aier, Women Leader PBC 2nd NAP Alichen was the Moderator and Chingthai, Pastor PBC Longleng was the resource person.


In the evening revival service, Rev. Dr. Imchayanger, Senior Pastor, Ao Christian Revival Church Dimapur was the Speaker and he spoke on the topic, ‘We are one in the spirit’. He said that there are diversities of gifts but the same spirit and we all may be given different gift but we serve the same Lord. The congregation was enthralled by singers from different units who presented songs in English, Hindi and Nagamese during the ‘musical night’ programme.


On the final day, during the Sunday Morning Devotional Service, the Speaker, L. Mhonthung Humtsoe, Associate Professor, Discipleship Bible College spoke on the topic ‘Oneness in Christ’. He said that we are called by God for a purpose and that purpose is to have unity in Christ. He also warned that the present trend of Nagas of constructing huge beautiful churches will lead to Christ taking away the church buildings but leaving behind its members in His second coming if we do not beautify our inner self but are only engaged in beautifying the outer church.


The afternoon session witnessed the business session and budget presentation where budget for the current year was thoroughly deliberated and passed.


In the evening worship service, the speaker, L. Mhonthung Humtsoe spoke on the topic “Celebrating our differences” where he stated that NPBCA was like a mini NBCC because all tribes are represented. He emphasized the need to accept these differences and be united to fulfill God’s purpose.


A new team of NPBCA officer bearers was installed with V. Rhakho as the President, Sashi as Vice President, Chenirao as Recording Secretary and M. Yiehwang Konyak as Assistant Recording Secretary.


Vote of Thanks on behalf of the Hosting Church was delivered by Akum Abraham, Deacon and the closing act was performed by PBC Peren who will be the host of the31th General Annual Council.


During the Convention, worship team from PBC 3rd NAP Tuensang led the congregation in hymn and revival song singing in all the services. Choirs from PBC Chümoukedima, Town Baptist Church Chümoukedima and various groups and soloists presented special songs and musical acts.
