NPC chairman expounds on competitive world

Kohima, Dec 29 (MExN): Nagaland Peace Centre (NPC) chairman N. Theyo, former minister graced the 59th general session of the Thipuzumi Students Union on December 27 last. “We are now in the 21st century and this an age of competition,” said Theyo while speaking on the occasion adding that the present students were privileged lot “because everything is easily accessible to you.”

Referring to computer age and availability of cyber cafe in every corner, he said “All you have to do is press a button and there the whole world is at your finger tips.” “All sorts of information will be available right from the President of the USA to Phek Town,” he declared.

The world has changed and of course for the better. We are now in the 21st century which has been marked by globalization of the economies of the world, he said.

Economic aspirations, he said have created a world where political boundaries have become irrelevant. Because of globalization, the old concept of protected economies has disappeared. Globalization has largely established among the nations of the world which was never before, he added.

He said the world has become a global village “if we look at the marvels of electronic communication through information technology and high speed air and road transport facilities. He, however said “We are unfortunate that during our time science and technologies were a bit orthodox and yet were blessed to lead a glorious life without mush hassle-tussle. But now day’s things have dramatically changed and the need of the hour is to keep pace with time.”

He also made a fervent appeal to the students to inculcate the ideals and spirit of “your village elders to live good life and to love thy neighbours with global spirit.”
