Dimapur, March 19 (MExN): The Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), in collaboration with the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) and the Police Commissionerate, Dimapur, will undertake an action-oriented awareness and road dust cleaning initiative on March 21 under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP).
The drive will cover the stretch from Plaza Point (Holy Cross junction) to Nagarjan Police Point and will begin at 5 am.
Officials said the initiative aims to highlight the importance of clean air, as Dimapur’s ambient air quality remains above the permissible limits under National Air Quality Standards and the city is listed among 130 non-attainment cities in the country.
They said deteriorating air quality is impacting both public health and the environment, and stressed that public participation is crucial in addressing the issue.
Residents and shop owners along the route have been urged to cooperate with cleaning teams, avoid obstructing access through reckless parking or placement of materials, and refrain from dumping solid waste, construction debris and other litter in public areas.
Authorities expressed hope that active citizen participation would contribute to improving air quality in the city.
