DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 3 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), along with various frontal organizations, departments, and cells, commemorated the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with a special event. Notable attendees included Vapramu Demo, former INC candidate for the 18th AC Chuzuba and PCC member.
In his address, Demo emphasized Gandhi's enduring values of non-violence (Ahimsa), truth (Satya), and cleanliness (Swachhata), urging everyone to take responsibility for shaping a better society. He highlighted the relevance of these principles in today’s world, a press release issued by NPCC stated.
Kelevono Neinu of the Nagaland Pradesh Mahila Congress (NPMC) gave a short speech, reflecting on Gandhi's humble life and encouraging attendees to lead by example.
Herole Y., Working President of the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC), spoke about the importance of humility, drawing parallels to Gandhi's life. He stressed that Gandhi prioritized the well-being of his countrymen and urged participants to make service to others their foremost priority, placing self-interest secondary.
Esther Therie, Secretary, National Students' Union of India (NSUI), highlighted Gandhi's legacy, reminding the audience of the power of ordinary individuals to effect extraordinary change. She cited pivotal moments in Gandhi's activism, such as the Dandi March and the Quit India Movement, as testaments to his courage and determination in the face of adversity.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Tsarili T., NPYC Secretary (Admin), who expressed gratitude to all participants, organizers, and speakers for their contributions. The event was organized by the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress, reflecting the ongoing commitment to Gandhi's principles in the region.
