Demands immediate requisition of Forest posts to NSSB, NPSC
KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 14 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) Public Grievance Department strongly condemned the statement made by the Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, CL Johh, in the Assembly on September 12, with regard to the human-animal conflict in Wokha district. While stating that loss of lives is no joke, it said that the Minister should be more responsible in his statements.
It further demanded the immediate requisition of 149 posts of Forest Guards, 15 Foresters-I, 1 ACF, 8 Forest Rangers and 21 Deputy Rangers to the NSSB and NPSC. According to the NPCC Grievance Department, the 34 Forest Guard posts advertised for Kiphire and Longleng in 2017 and the 115 Forest Guard in 2023 has to be through the NSSB for open recruitment.
Furthermore, it said that the details provided by the EFCC Minister in the Assembly conflicted with the latest RTI data, acquired in September. It held that as opposed to the Minister claiming the existence of 130 vacant posts of Forest Guards, as per the RTI figures, the total number of vacancies stood at 115.
While asking the Department to stop manipulating the RTI data, it said, “The RTI report did not show the report of 5 appointees in Forester-I. 10 vacancies of Forester-I with a grade pay of 2800 which clearly falls under the purview of NPSC.”
It added that the NPCC Public Grievances Department will not accept the “Cabinet Agenda no. 6” dated June 12, 2023, which kept in abeyance the advertised Forest Guard posts till a decision is taken by the Cabinet. While demanding the immediate requisition of the aforementioned posts to the NSSB and NPSC by this month, it said that a copy of the action taken be given to the NPCC, Public Grievances Department.
