NPCC demands CBI probe into NAP arms scam

Dimapur, August 17 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has demanded Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigations into the scams in the tainted Nagaland Armed Police department, specifically the recent spate of alleged arms-running. The demand was one of the several points of issue broached by the NPCC in a meeting today, August 17.

“The NPCC demands CBI enquiry into the Police department for various scams especially the missing arms and ammunition case. The NPCC urges the Governor of Nagaland to give sanction for CBI enquiry without further delay,” stated a press release containing the ‘resolutions’ received here from the NPCC.  The NPCC also extended support to the ongoing agitation by the Nagaland Contractors’ and Suppliers’ Union demanding payment of outstanding dues/bills from the government of Nagaland.

The Congress has urged the government to immediately make the payments due to the union.

On public amenities, the Congress also reiterated “the department of Power” has failed to “discharge their responsibilities for the last four years.” Therefore, the NPCC stated, the Congress demands the Power Minister should immediately step down to save the sufferings of the people of Nagaland.

The NPCC also fully endorses what it said is the decision of the country’s Congress chief “on I. Imkong’s case since he has tendered a written apology to the president AICC.” The settlement of this issue will strengthen the party under the present leadership of the NPCC president and the CLP Leader, the NPCC stated.

The NPCC also reiterated its regular declaration of support to the ongoing political negotiations for settlement between the Naga underground groups and the government of India. “In the event of any political settlement which will be honorable and acceptable to all section of Naga’s it shall wholeheartedly support the settlement in the greater interest of the Naga people,” the NPCC stated. The press release was appended by NPCC president SI Jamir and general secretary Medokul Sophie.
