
Dimapur, April 1 (MExN): The NPCC has greeted the Konyak and the Phom community on the occasion Aoleang Monyu and Monyiü festival, the respective traditional spring festivals of both the community.
The festivals are celebrated to herald in the spring season and the new agrarian year while praying for a bountiful harvest, K Therie, President, NPCC said in a message.
“It is also a time for the community to display the rich cultural heritage inherited from our forefathers,” it said adding that while there is an environment of threat on our culture and identity, its meaningful celebrations “are crucial for preserving and passing on our rich culture and identity to the younger generations for posterity.”
Besides, remembering loved ones and sharing joy as well as making peace and reconciliation, NPCC said that the festivals are also an opportunity to foster brotherhood and unity not only within the respective communities but also with other communities and across society.
“As the celebrations continue, may the Konyak and Phom communities continue to reap a bountiful harvest not only from the land but also from the social, economic and spiritual realms of life,” it added.
