
On the 29th death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination, the NPCC minority cell distributed rations and refreshments to stranded people in Dimapur.
DIMAPUR, MAY 22 (MExN): On the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi’s 29th death anniversary, the NPCC Minority Department distributed refreshments and rations to a few needy and poor people who are stranded in Dimapur because of the lockdown.
Members who helped in distributing the items were Ajit Gogoi, Salikur Khan, RajenDey along with Minority Chairman and Secretary, NPCC, Rajesh Kumar Sethi. He stated that this day is being remembered as "BalidanDiwas" as former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in a bomb blast at Sriperumbudur, Chennai, TamilNadu.
Sethi said Gandhi was a dynamic Prime Minister who had a strong vision for a strong, independent and self-reliant India. He said that the late Prime Minister had brought about the IT revolution in the country, had worked for uplift of the poorer sections and empowerment of women.
He added that Rajiv Gandhi had a “special connection with the people of Northeast.”
“He understood how important identity, history, culture and language was for the region. Whether it's Nagaland, Mizoram or Assam, people remember him with fondness. His contribution in building modern India is unparalled,” Sethi added.
