NPCC on NPF’s unfortunate legacy; responds to Chingwang

In this short memory lane of DAN regime in the state, the people of the state can clearly recollect that the NPF as a political party have never won even a single majority seats in both the Assembly elections of 2003 and 2008 yet they could formed the Government with hotchpotch arrangement and ran the government by inducing the feeble minded leaders and to survive the Government, the NPF adopted and practiced firmly the policy of inducement and ‘divide and rule’. As a result, the Naga people are now a divided house economically, socially and politically with have and have-nots, upper and lower echelon in social strata and emergence of different political groups. This is, in a nutshell, an unfortunate legacy bequeathed to the people of Nagaland by the NPF led DAN Government in the last decade. Their tall claim of ‘government of achievement’ is but an achievement in creating thousands of Crore in loans and interest payments and creating huge deficit for the next generation of Naga people.

It disheartening to recollect about Shri Chingwang Konyak’s political career who have been 2 time MP from Congress party and NPCC President from 1993 after losing in the general election.  Then sometime in 1996, he left the party and join Congress Tewari, then join NDM and again to BJP. After sometime in hiatus he again join the Congress just before the Assembly election in 2003 and got elected as INC candidate and again re-elected in 2008 on INC ticket. He was elected as CLP Leader in August 2009. Now just on the verge of Assembly election he joined the NPF with inducements or otherwise as has been his predecessors who have joined NPF not long before. He has been therefore the best political chameleon who changes his color for mere ’30 silver coins’.

The most unfortunate utterance from our respected senior politician has been his assertion that ‘ENPO people want Rio as CM’ which has not only betrayed the needs and aspiration of the people of ENPO area in particular but has endorsed the DAN government’s policy of inducement and divisive policy among the Naga families as a whole. The posterity will never forget such an interesting man and his experiences.
