NPCC questions silence on CM's meeting with Amit Shah

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 3 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has raised concerns over the ‘conspicuous silence’ following the recent meeting between the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio-led Cabinet delegation and Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with other Central leaders.

The NPCC pointed out that the meeting was reportedly convened with the aim of addressing the situation arising from the NSCN (IM)'s threat to resume its armed struggle. This, according to the NPCC, wasn’t helping the cause, in calming the widespread anxiety and confusion that has gripped the state’s general populace since the threat was issued.

Given the gravity of the situation, the NPCC expressed disappointment that the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues had not updated the public on the outcome of the meeting.

“The fact that they chose not to come out with a positive message, reassuring the people that both the negotiating parties are doing their utmost to iron out their differences and maintain the spirit of the decades long Naga political peace process is extremely worrisome and may lead to the amplification of possibly incorrect impressions among the people,” the NPCC stated.
