NPCC reiterates corruption charges against NPF leaders

DIMAPUR, APRIL 6 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee has called upon the Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio to “apologize to the Nagas for miserably failing to do anything in the past 11 years as Chief Minister and for hobnobbing with communal forces of BJP-RSS that threatens to impose alien culture on the Naga’s.”
A press note from the NPCC stated that the NPF “are solely responsible and accountable for perpetrating a state of total misgovernance.”

NPCC further stated that Planning Minister TR Zeliang’s statement terming the NPCC booklet as full of lies “will never find any takers since his misdeeds as minister for Veterinary & AH during DAN-II has seen the worst corruption and embezzlement in the V&AH department.” It said that though the minister says that funds are still awaited for setting up of Veterinary college at Jalukie, “an amount of 12.25 crores was released for civil works from 2008 till 2012 with the infrastructure on ground telling another story.”

NPCC further informed that from 2009-2012, an amount of 13 crores was sanctioned for implementation of Mithun Project, “which was severely plagued by selection of beneficiary villages without proper feasibility studies, irregularities in disbursement of assistance to beneficiary villages and payment made for fictitious works supposed to have been undertaken by M/s Hi Tech Constructions for 69 works amounting to 1.51 crores that was never executed on ground.”

NPCC claimed that the reaction of NPF leaders has justified the former’s booklet titled “11 years of NPF Misrule.” It reminded that the NPCC has enough documentary evidence collected through RTI filings and challenged the NPF leaders for open discussion on any public forum. Had the contents been false allegations, the NPF could have taken a legal recourse instead of merely deriding the contents of the booklet, it added.

On the BJP, it stated that the former is fighting the parliamentary elections without Manifesto. This, it said, exposes that “the party which is bereft of any agenda or vision for the nation other than its communal and divisive agenda that stands no chance of propelling them to power.” Slamming Rio for aligning with the BJP, NPCC stated that the NPF “has no agenda after 11 years of empty promise that has ruined the state and destroyed the aspirations of the people.”

“The NPF which has submitted to the High Command of the communal BJP in Delhi and the divisive RSS in Nagpur has lost all moral rights to speak on behalf of the Nagas since the ideology and agenda of these communal forces represents the very antithesis of what the Nagas have been fighting and struggling for decades to preserve our unique culture and identity,” it asserted.

It further iterated that the Congress led UPA’s “inclusive policies have benefited large sections of the people especially in rural areas across the country.” It called upon the people of Nagaland not to “repeat the mistake of electing Rio.” It stated that the CM “has no chance of speaking for the Nagas as an MP in parliament, when he failed miserably to voice out for the people as Chief Minister in 11 years of uninterrupted rule.”
