Kohima, March 11 (MExN): A day after K. Therie tendered his resignation as President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), the executive committee of the NPC has informed that it “outrightly rejected” the former's resignation.
In a statement, NPCC General Secretary Capt. GK Zhimomi informed that Therie had offered his resignation by owning full moral responsibility for the recent election debacle during the NPC Executive Committee Meeting on March 10. “However, the NPC Executive Committee outrightly rejected the offer of resignation,” Zhimomi stated.
It was further resolved to request the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to honour the decision of the NPC Executive Committee until proper accountability is fixed on factors responsible for the election debacle, the release added.
Meanwhile, the NPCC General Secretary took exception to the way news reports of the resignation were circulated and expressed regret at some local dailies “even going to the extent of writing a political obituary for NPCC.”
“It was very unfortunate that what was published in a section of local dailies and also circulated on social media platforms was just one side of the story,” Zhimomi maintained.
