NPCC to release election manifesto soon

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today informed that the party would be releasing its election manifesto for the upcoming Nagaland polls soon.

A press note from the NPCC media cell said that they would release the manifesto “since all the political parties led by the NPF and BJP are gearing up to take part in elections.”

It meanwhile stated that the “belligerent stand of the BJP to force elections against the wishes of the people and the Civil Societies will be remembered for all times to come.” It accused the BJP of brushing aside the joint declaration of the January 29 and making a “scapegoat out of their senior party functionary.”

It further alleged that the “arrogance of the BJP has been greatly helped by majority of our people who believe that candidates should buy vote to win elections.” “Money gained from selling Votes will only be a momentary relief for some week or month and we urge the voters to abstain from getting entangled with cursed money,” the Congress added.

It meanwhile cautioned that “unless the high monetary demand from the voters and party workers heaped upon candidates ceases, another corrupt government will be the default choice.” The Congress further claimed that “with the mushrooming of Hindutva agents in Nagaland who are encouraged by the NPF-BJP government to set up educational and other business establishments, Nagaland may soon be engulfed by Hindutva forces in the near future.”

The party also termed it ironic that “candidates who abhor BJP and its ideology are readily joining the parties that are allied with BJP.” “Our people should be wise enough to reject those candidates who think that the voters are gullible enough to be taken for a ride,” it appealed.

Nagaland BJP to ‘stitch together alliance’ by today

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 1 (MExN): The Nagaland State unit of the BJP today informed that the party is in the final stage of “stitching together an alliance for the forthcoming elections.” A press note from the state BJP Election Management Committee, Nagaland Co Convener, Mmhonlumo Kikon stated that the party is in discussion with all the parties for the same and will be finalising the seat-sharing alliance by February 1 night. “When the BJP and its alliance forms the next government in Nagaland the BJP will continue to proactively pursue the course of an early solution to the Peace Negotiations between the Nagas and the Government of India,” it added.
