NPCC supports Village Guards’ demand for wage increase

DIMAPUR, JULY 24 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NBCC) has appealed to the Nagaland Government to consider the demands of Village Guards for increase in their wages.

A press release from the NPCC Communications Department stated that village guards are the “pride of our state and the first ones in line to uphold peace in the state.” “Little do we give them the recognition they need for their tireless performance and dedication with full sincerity and faith from the remotest areas to the vast lines of international borders,” it added.

The party said that Village Guards are the “first spearheads” of security on the line of duty before the administration to safeguard the State's law and order. Their services equipped with both modern and Naga traditional warrior warfare techniques, are much appreciated and sought out by the State Government as equally as police services in times of state security emergencies, it stated.

With no State function complete without their participation, the NPCC pointed out that the Nagaland Village Guards which started as a primary grass-root security force, should not remain or be left as a permanent primary status. It would rather be the pride and honor of the State Government if the Nagaland Village Guards are given the due and deserving upgraded status in their service as well as their basic facilities, it said.
