
Dimapur, June 29 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), which scored significant electoral success in the urban local bodies (ULBs) elections in Nagaland on Saturday assured to work tirelessly for the benefit of each and every citizen, irrespective of whichever party of candidate has emerged victorious anywhere.
“We appeal for peace, oneness and unity. Let us all work as one Team Nagaland,” stated a press release received here from the NDPP Media & Communication Committee. The party also attributed the success to the “exemplary leadership” of Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio and stated that it is collective victory for each and every Naga under his helm.
The NDPP also appreciated the people of Nagaland for the successful conclusion of the civic polls in the State and said that the electorates have responded with a high polling percentage indicating the citizens faith in the democratic process. The success of the elections is due to the overwhelming support of all sections including the Tribal Hohos, Church Organisations, CSOs, NGOs, the electorates and the citizens of the State, it noted.
Meanwhile, the party also appreciated the government machinery, the State Election Commission, the Administration and all law enforcing agencies led by the state police force for the successful conduct of the elections. “Our appreciation goes out to the government machineries led by the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police and the State Election Commissioner,” it said.
The NDPP also applauded all the political parties and their candidates for participating and contributing towards the democratic process and wished each elected member a successful tenure. The party also expresses its sincere appreciation to the voters in the areas where the ULB elections were conducted, for their overwhelming support and for placing their faith and confidence in the NDPP and its leadership.
The rank and file of the NDPP congratulates the Chief Minister Rio and President, Chingwang Konyak for leading the party from the front and for once again winning the trust and confidence of the people, it said. “Every member of the NDPP Party is humbled and we are grateful to God Almighty for the blessings,” it added.
The NDPP also acknowledged that the establishment of ULBs in Nagaland has been a long and challenging journey, marked by significant obstacles and profound sacrifices over the past two decades, including the loss of precious lives. “With the blessings of God Almighty, the support of the people and the solidarity of all sections particularly the civil societies and the church we have journeyed this far,” it added.
Thus, the realisation of the ULBs and the unprecedented achievement of reservations for women are indeed a historic milestone for the Naga people, affirmed the NDPP. “ It is an indication that we are progressing and moving forward as a people and we are ready to play a contributory role towards the good of humanity.”
