Minister for home Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, an NPF candidate of 19th Phek A/C for the ensuing general elections, today exuded confidence that NPF alone will be able to cross the magic number and form the next government in the state. “But nevertheless, we will take alliance partners into consideration in the formation of the next government,” he said, addressing the election campaign kickoff programme of NPF 19th Phek A/C here.
He stated NPF has been according the highest priority to the Naga political issue. Asserting that any political settlement has to take place under a popular government in the state, Nienu assured that the NPF government will contribute its best to facilitate an early and lasting settlement to the Naga political problem.
The influx of illegal immigrant is one of the biggest threats in the North East today and that is going to affect Nagaland too, Azo added. He informed that the NPF in its manifesto has announced to take stricter verification of illegal migrants and that the party will streamline and regulate further the system of issuing ILPs and verify vigorously the inflow into the state of illegal migrants via other neigbouring states.
NPF, he said, has also emphasized to review seriously the application of Naga customary laws and practices and initiate to bring in adequate legislative measures to strengthen and empower further the administrative and judicial functions of the village councils in the state.
Stating that the NPF would focus on systematic reforms, he stated the party will institutionalize the reforms measures in governance, and then the functioning within the changed system, “we firmly believe, will produce changed results, gradually transforming Nagaland.”
Azo further maintained corruption also has limit and one should not cross it. “Developmental works should not be hampered on the ground or allow developmental works to come to standstill because of corruption.”
Cleansing the process of governance from corruption will be a very serious agenda of the NPF, he asserted.
“Corruption of all kinds, especially misuse, misappropriation and siphoning off of precious state resources, unjustified cost escalation of projects and payments made against ghost schemes and employees will be dealt with firmly as per law and serious corruption cases with prima facie proofs will be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), to bring the culprits to book according to law,” he quoted the NPF election manifesto.
He also said there will not be posts of Parliamentary Secretaries and Advisors in the next ministry but assured that the party’s Government “shall provide honourable and effective involvement in Governance to the legislators without attracting in the least the question of holding an Office of Profit as provided under Article 191 of the Constitution of India.”
NPF 19th Phek A/C president, Api Vadeo and several others also spoke at the function.
