Dimapur, October 14 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Ramvilas have refuted social media rumors suggesting that coalition partners are planning to withdraw support from the opposition-less People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
In a press statement, the NPF stated that it was unaware of any letter purportedly sent to the Governor of Nagaland regarding the withdrawal of support from the PDA. The party emphasized that it remains fully committed to the government under Chief Minister Rio, asserting its continued support to strengthen the ongoing peace process and work toward an honorable solution to the Naga political issue.
The NPF clarified that any decision taken by the party is a conscious one, and once made, it cannot be withdrawn overnight.
While standing firm on its support for the PDA, the NPF noted that it is a distinct political entity dedicated to safeguarding the identity of the Naga people and the Indigenous communities of the Northeast. The party pledged to continue advocating for the state’s development while raising issues of concern.
Meanwhile, LJP Ramvilas has also dismissed the rumors as unfounded. In a statement, S. Richard Humtsoe, State President of LJP Ramvilas Nagaland, clarified that none of the coalition leaders, including LJP Ramvilas, have signed or acknowledged any such letter. He emphasized that LJP Ramvilas remains committed to supporting the PDA government and underscored the party’s alignment with the current government through its representatives and the support of their National President and Union Minister, Chirag Paswan.
