NPF appeal to NSCN Khaplang

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 15 (MExN): The recent Press statement of the NSCN (K) that it was initiating “corrective action” against MLA Azheto Zhimomi for “open defiance and abuse of the NSCN/GPRN”, is very disturbing and shocking; especially at a time when efforts to bring about the Naga reconciliation and unity is at its highest level as never before, stated a press note issued by T.L. Merry Vice President, in-charge of NPF Press.
“Reading between the line – the Press note of the NSCN (K), the GPRN/NSCN and the subsequent volley of opinions expressed by various people’s organizations through the media, it is observed that there has been a communication cap which triggered the unfortunate paper tirades”, stated the NPF.
It was pointed out that Azheto Zhimomi, besides being a “successful businessman and a young leader, has a proven track record of his broad minded and stature as succor to the people and his credibility and integrity as a mandated Naga leader is beyond doubt”. “His sincere commitment (as a Legislator) to work for the achievement of the prolonged Indo-Naga political issue is evidently self explanatory”, stated the NPF.
The NPF stated that at this crucial juncture, a joint effort was imperative to work towards “building up a social and political order based on justice, peace and harmony if we mean to achieve our collective goal”. As such, the press note pointed out that any “excessive abuse of one’s privilege in our society or misuse of power while discharging one’s duty, which are the root cause of multiple lawlessness need to be disciplined with fundamental priority in the under ground organizations as well as the over ground society”.
The NPF stated that in the “interest of the people’s long desired peaceful coexistence”, it appealed that the NSCN (K) revoke its earlier statement and settle the misunderstanding amicably.
In a separate press note, the NPF Dimapur Division also stated that it was constraint to learn that false allegation has been leveled against Azheto Zhimomi, MLA, Advisor, Sericulture and Co-operation Govt. of Nagaland. “It is really sad that without thorough investigation the matter has been circulated in the local print media casting false aspersion on a respected elected leader”, stated the press note from K. Shilu Sangtam, President and Timir Choudhury Vice President NPF Dimapur Division.
The NPF Dimapur stated that the NPF Govt. and the party had time and again been saying that its role is that of a facilitator and it has been working towards the same. The question of its party leaders that too elected ones siding with one group or the other does not arise as it will jeopardize the progress made as far as reconciliation process is concerned, the press note stated.
Therefore, the NPF Dimapur Division appealed to the NSCN (K) to verify the facts before making any allegations against the respected leaders of our society and also change its earlier stand of initiating action against the Advisor, Sericulture and Co- operation as it has been amply made clear that he is not involved in the case in any way. “It will serve us better and we can co-exist with mutual understanding and brotherhood”, the press note stated.
