Close on the heels of the Nagaland Chief Minister, TR Zeliang dropping Parliamentary Secretary, Mmhonlumo Kikon from the ministry, the National BJP Vice President of Scheduled Tribe Morcha, Johnny Rengma said that the relations between the State BJP and ruling NPF was smooth and stable as has been in the past. “Our relationship remains stable under the leadership of Dr. Shurhozelie and TR Zeliang as a DAN coalition,” he said.
Addressing a press conference in Dimapur on Sunday, Johnny said that the CM is accountable to the public for the performance of his appointees and has the prerogative to drop any member from the ministry. He said that the matter should be ended there and not to be dragged into a political issue. When asked whether the Framework Agreement signed between the GoI and NSCN (IM) would affect the state general elections, Johnny responded, “No state under India can obstruct the movement of the Constitution as established by law since election is an integral part of the Constitution of India.”
He said Prime Minister, Narendara Modi had broken all records by signing a Framework Agreement and laying a foundation for resolving the Naga issue. He said that the BJP is fully engaged with the ensuing elections in Manipur and also expressed happiness that BJP Nagaland was fully preparing to fight the coming state elections.
